Cara Booth named distinguished youth

Cara Lynne Booth (right) of Dundee, was named Distinguished Youth of Yates County for the first quarter. She was honored at the April Yates County Legislature meeting, and is shown with Taylor Fitch, legislative chairman, and Chris Younge, youth bureau director.

Cara Booth of Dundee was recognized by the Yates County Youth Bureau as a Distinguished Youth for the first quarter of 2011.

Cara, daughter of Baird and Cilinia Booth, was chosen by the Yates County Youth Board for being a positive role model and for having performed outstanding service for her community and family. She was presented the Distinguished Youth Award by Youth Bureau Director Christine Yonge at a recent Legislature meeting.  

Nominated by her grandmother, Miriam Booth, Cara is already involved in community service although not required until high school for graduation. Cara volunteers her time to the Dundee Fire Company and Auxiliary and Dundee Methodist Church helping with dinners and fundraisers. She is an active member of the family business, Baird Funeral Home, at which she assists by printing prayer cards, cleaning and running errands. She is also an honor student in the eighth grade at Dundee Central School “who loves to read, is interested in community affairs, loves animals and her sport activities and in general is an all around great individual” said her Grandmother.

In additional to the certificate presented to Cara, she also received a bouquet of flowers from Judy’s Flower Cart, a gift bag with items and gift cards from Water Street Pharmacy, The Classic Café, Earle’s Home Town Pizza, Chrissy’s Beauty Salon, The Fabric Shoppe, Wise Guys Pizza, The Nest Egg, Cam’s Pizzeria, Penn Yan Express Stop, Auntie Anne’s Pretzel @ The Windmill and Chase’s Place for Pizza Pasta and More. This award is also sponsored by the Penn Yan Moose Lodge 2030, Suzanne’s Keuka Kountry at the Windmill and the Seneca Lake Duck Hunter’s Association.

Nominations are now being accepted for the second quarter award.

Visit www.yatescounty.org, click on Departments,select Youth Bureau, and then click on ‘Distinguished Youth Award’ to download a form. Second quarter nominations are due back to the Youth Bureau by June 14.
