The office of Rep. Tom Reed has released this statement on the death of Osama Bin Laden:

"Like many Americans I felt a sense of justice upon learning the news about Osama Bin Laden.  The man who masterminded multiple attacks which killed thousands of Americans and non-Americans has now paid the price he exacted upon so many innocent people.

"I also share the pride we feel in our military this morning. Not pride in just those who carried out this mission, but for all of those who have stood in harm’s way in the defense of freedom and democracy over the years since 9/11. Whether in Iraq, Afghanistan, or other fronts in the war on terror, we are grateful for their service, and this victory belongs to them.

"While we pause to remember the fallen, let us also resolve to continue to be vigilant in the war on terror.  We all pray that this is the beginning of the end of Al-Qaeda.  Just as history remembers 9/11 as the event which began the war on terror, I hope that someday history will also remember this event as the beginning of the final defeat of Al-Qaeda and those who seek the destruction of the United States."
