Nominating petitions circulated now

Petition packets are now available at the Yates County Board of Elections for those people interested in running for office in the various town and county elections being held this year.

Check the Yates County Board of Elections web site or the Town Clerk in your Town for offices up for election this fall.

The primary election this year will be held on Sept. 13.

Party designating petitions may be signed beginning on June 7, and can be filed at the Board of Elections starting July 11 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. through July 14.  All designating petitions must be returned no later than 5 p.m. on July 14.  

Independent nominating petitions can be be circulated for signatures beginning on July 12, and can be filed starting Aug. 16 at the Board of Elections between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. They must be returned no later than 5 p.m. Aug. 23.

The new political calendar is available on the Yates County web site www.yatescounty.org  

If you are not registered to vote, it is not too late.  Forms are available at your local post office, town office, library or the Yates County Board of Elections office or web site.  

Potential candidates with questions may call the Yates County Board of Elections from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at 315-536-5135.
