Dundee school prohibits sledding on front hillside

The new track and football field at Dundee Central School are complete and surrounded by a fence that shortens the area previously used by sledders.

What’s happening: The Dundee Central School?Board of Education has agreed to prohibit sledding on the hillside at the front of the school property.

Why? The improvements to the football field and track included a fence, which runs along the bottom of the hill, where people have enjoyed sledding for years.

What are the options? Business Manager Melissa Lawson says people can still enjoy the more gentle slope that’s a bit south of the original sledding site.

There also are slopes behind the school between the basketball and tennis courts where people can enjoy winter fun.

All that’s needed now is the snow.
