Penn Yan woman dies in Rte. 14A accident
A Penn Yan woman was pronounced dead Sunday after a two-vehicle accident at 8:01 a.m. on Route 14A in the Town of Stanley.
Angela L. Hoaglin, 36, of 120 Eagle Lane, Penn Yan, suffered fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by Ontario County Coroner Kevin Henderson, according to the Ontario County Sheriff's Office.
According to the sheriff's office, Ms. Hoaglin was driving a 2001 Saturn north on Route 14A when her vehicle was struck by a 2002 Chevrolet — driven by Christopher L. Christensen, 26, of 552 Scott Road, Penn Yan — that was eastbound on Scoon Road. The intersection is controlled by a stop sign on Scoon Road for eastbound traffic, according to the sheriff's office.
Christensen was not injured, deputies said, adding that both drivers were wearing seat belts.
The cause of the accident remained under investigation as of Sunday afternoon, with possible charges pending.
The road was closed for approximately three hours when deputies completed accident reconstruction. Penn Yan Ambulance and Stanley-Hall Ambulance were on the scene, assisted by personnel from the Hall, Benton and Bellona fire departments.
