Obituary: Hazel Burnett

Former Town of Potter resident Hazel Burnett, 91, of Bristol, passed away February 25, 2014 at Thompson Hospital.

Hazel was born in the Town of Potter to the late Bert and Arvena Lafler. She attended Rushville Schools and was a member of the first graduating class of the Middlesex Valley School District. Hazel was a member of the United Church of Bristol.

The widow of Donald “Red” Burnett, she is survived by her sons Ron (Gloria) Burnett, St. Louis Mo., and Steve Burnett, Bisbee Ariz.; grandchildren, Jeff and Mark; five great-grandchildren; her brother, Paul Lafler of Florida, and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend a gathering to be held at the United Church of Bristol,7177 County Road 2, Bloomfield from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Feb. 28, where a celebration of Hazel’s life will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers it has been suggested that memorials be directed to the United Church of Bristol or to the House of John, 14 Spring St., Clifton Springs, NY 14432.
