New York State Police have made an arrest in the case of a man threatening fishermen on Keuka Lake.

Wells C. Lewis of Branchport was charged with second degree menacing, fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child June 9 after investigation into a June 1 incident, reports Inv. Don Rodburne.

Lewis will answer the charges in Pulteney Town Court.

Yates County Sheriff Ron Spike says on June 1 the fishermen reported a male came out of a cottage with a long gun and made implied threats, saying they were fishing too close to his shoreline. They left the scene and called 911.

Yates County Sheriff’s Marine Patrol took their statements and filed a menacing complaint, but discovered the crime actually took place in Steuben County, so it was turned over to New York State Police for investigation.
