Habitat for Humanity Open House is Aug. 10
Yates County Habitat for Humanity cordially invites its friends and neighbors to the open house and dedication of the most recently completed house at 159 Seneca St. Penn Yan between 2 and 4 p.m. Aug. 10
“The open house will give the opportunity first hand to see the results of partner families and volunteers working together to establish affordable and decent housing for those who otherwise might not be able to assume home ownership,” says Habitat President John Keenan.
Habitat in Yates County was incorporated July 5, 1989 and now, 25 years later, the group has provided homes for 14 families.
While it took several years to raise enough money to start a house, it now has been more readily accomplished. The interest-free 20-year mortgages are held by Habitat and so with those monthly payments and the donations received by individuals and Covenant churches, it has been a much quicker process usually completing a home in a year or so.
“We have been most fortunate to have the many local businesses and organizations support us over the years, for without them our efforts would have been much more difficult.
With our sincere thanks and appreciation we invite you to come and see what has been accomplished over the years, and what we hope with your help to be able to accomplish in the future,” adds Keenan.
