Living legend Bobby Allison will be the featured guest and grand marshal of the Glenora Wine Cellars U.S. Vintage Grand Prix presented by Welliver at Watkins Glen International.

Allison, a member of three halls of fame and tied for fourth on the all-time NASCAR wins list with 84, will return to WGI for the Sept. 5-7 weekend, which has become one of the largest vintage racing events in the United States. While Allison never won at The Glen, making only two starts here, he does rank third on the all-time NASCAR road racing wins list with six victories – all at the defunct Riverside Raceway.

“To me it’s just an incredible honor to do anything like this in a sport that I think so much of, where I’ve had so much success,” Allison said.

A charter member of the Alabama Gang, Allison is also a member of the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America, the International Motorsports Hall of Fame and the NASCAR Hall of Fame. In his career across several kinds of racing, Allison has more than 100 victories and a Winston Cup Champion, earned in 1983.

“I grew up watching drivers like Bobby Allison, (Richard) Petty and (Darrell) Waltrip,” WGI president Michael Printup said in a release. “He is a true racing legend and we are thrilled to have him as our guest and grand marshal during this historic race weekend.”

The vintage racing weekend kicks off on Sept. 5 with the Grand Prix Festival of Watkins Glen, where a reenactment of the street races is held in downtown Watkins Glen.
