The Village of Penn Yan will be holding a Community Workshop for the Village’s 2015 Comprehensive Plan update process. The event will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15 at Penn Yan Academy, 305 Court St.

The purpose of the Comprehensive Plan update is to guide future decision-making and investment in the community to help ensure long-term stability and growth. By articulating an overall community vision for the Village, as well as a means to achieve that vision, an updated Comprehensive Plan will provide a framework for future public and private investment within Penn Yan over the next decade. The existing 2000 Comprehensive Plan can be viewed online at: http://villageofpennyan.com/pdf/pennyan_master_plan_2000.pdf

The Village has hired a team of consultants, Steinmetz Planning Group, Clark Patterson Lee, and Urban Advisors, to lead the Comprehensive Plan update process. This project is expected to take approximately one year to complete. There will be additional public input opportunities throughout the process to ensure the Plan reflects the current priorities and values of the community.

Attendees of the Community Workshop will be introduced to the project’s Steering Committee members, consultant team, and the process that will be used to update the Plan. In addition, the public will be asked to participate in a brainstorming session for key issues facing the Village, as well as partake in a Community Preference Survey.

All residents, business owners, community leaders, and individuals with an interest in the future of Penn Yan are encouraged to attend and share their thoughts to help our leaders develop an all-inclusive plan that will serve to shape our community for the next decade.
