In the past, Keuka College would hold separate celebrations for both its annual Family Weekend and Reunion Weekend get-togethers, but this year, the college has combined those two events into one big celebration and added in a homecoming component to form the inaugural Green & Gold celebration weekend.

Beginning Friday and running through the end of the weekend, alumni, parents and friends are invited to bring their entire family back to the Keuka College campus to celebrate Green & Gold weekend.

Keuka’s athletics department is holding several events in conjunction with Green & Gold weekend, including a home soccer doubleheader, the annual Athletics Hall of Fame induction, a pep rally, a 5K obstacle course race, a pre-game brunch and tailgate, and alumni throwback games.

On Saturday, Keuka’s soccer teams host Alfred State in a big non-conference doubleheader. The women’s soccer team (8-4-1, 8-2 NEAC) plays at 1 p.m., followed by the men (10-2-1, 6-1-1 NEAC) taking on the Pioneers at 3 p.m.

The contests will take place on the soccer field at the Jephson Community Athletic Complex, and admission is free for both games.

In-between games, Nicole Bondellio (’08) and Lucas Hopkins (’04) will become just the 19th and 20th members of the Keuka College Athletics Hall of Fame when they are inducted during an on-field ceremony.

Nicole Bondellio (Watkins Glen/Corning West) graduated as the all-time goals (50), assists (39) and points (139) leader for the women’s soccer team and currently ranks first in points and assists, and is second in goals scored.

During her four-year career, Bondellio was named the NEAC Player of the Year in both 2004 and 2007. She was named to the first-team All-NEAC team all four years on campus, and helped Keuka win the 2007 NEAC regular season title. She also earned All-New York Region second-team and ESPN/CoSIDA Academic All-American third-team honors.

Lucas Hopkins (Adams /South Jefferson) graduated as the all-time leader in goals (115), assists (83) and points (198) for the men’s lacrosse program, and 10 years after his graduation, Hopkins remains the program’s most prolific scorer.

Hopkins scored 40 or more points in each season in Keuka Park. During his senior season, Hopkins registered 53 points on 31 goals with 22 assists as the Green and Gold finished the year with a 10-1 record, the first-ever double-digit win total in school history.

On Friday, the annual Fall Inferno pep rally will take place at Point Neamo starting at 8:30 p.m. There will be live music and snacks (Smores and doughnuts), and participants will have a chance to meet the Wolfpack’s fall student-athletes. Assorted Wolfpack gear will also be given away.

Before Saturday’s soccer doubleheader, interested participants can register for the Ultimate Predator 5K obstacle course race, which starts at 10 a.m. Participants can sign up individually or as part of a team, but you must pre-register for the event by either calling 315-279-5238, or stopping by the registration tent in front of Ball Hall.

Starting Saturday at 11 a.m., fans are invited up to the Jephson Community Athletic Complex for a brunch and tailgate prior to the soccer doubleheader.

Fans are invited to bring their own food, grills, tents and tailgate supplies. For those who don’t want to tailgate, the College will be offering a catered brunch (free for students, $10.30 for adults, $5.15 for children 12 and under).

The first 500 supporters at the tailgate will receive a Wolfpack drink Koozie, and will automatically be entered into one of five drawings for assorted prize giveaways.

Following the soccer doubleheader, former student-athletes will have the chance to show off their sports skills during assorted alumni throwback games, which start at 5:30 p.m.

Alumni can participate in throwback games in the following sports: baseball, basketball, lacrosse, soccer, softball, and volleyball. Participants must pre-register for the alumni throwback games by either calling 315-279-5238, or stopping by the registration tent in front of Ball Hall.

There will also be a kids night out event (free for children ages 4 to 12, pre-registration required) at 6:45 p.m., followed by a campfire and a night climb on the College’s Challenge Course starting at 8 p.m.

Once the sun has set, there will be a free fireworks show for all Green & Gold celebration weekend attendees.
