Update: Yates County Sheriff extends no unnecessary travel advisory
Yates County Sheriff Ron Spike has extended the travel advisory until further notice. Motorist's are asked to avoid any unnecessary travel today.
Spike first issued an advisory Tuesday afternoon elevating the travel advisory to a recommendation of no unnecessary travel until 5 a.m. Wednesday.
Hazardous driving conditions exist due to snowfall up to 12” or more in parts of the county and drifting on some roads.
Highways Departments have resumed work this morning. According to Spike, roads are not closed at this time, but extreme caution is advised for drivers as snow, icing and wind conditions will make for poor or “white-out” visibility, and safe travel will be challenging.
