Wreaths placed on the graves at Bath National Cemetery

The 2017 Wreaths Across America Day will be held Saturday, Dec. 16 in Bath National Cemetery at the Bath VA Medical Center. Placing of the wreaths will begin immediately following the noon ceremony.

The public is invited to attend and is asked to arrive at 11:30 a.m. Parking will be at

the back of the Bath VA museum building.

This year’s goal is 2,500+ wreaths with over 400 having been sponsored to date.

Wreath sponsorships can be made at www.WreathsAcrossAmerica-BathNY.org.

Individual wreaths are $15 and are tax deductible (higher donation levels also available). The sponsorship deadline is Nov. 27.

Anyone interested in participating in the wreath-laying ceremony can sign up at the website or contact Linda Conway at linda.conway@redcross.org or 607-962- 0765.

Buses will be provided to shuttle visitors and participants to the cemetery. All in attendance should dress accordingly. The VA Employees Association will provide refreshments in Bldg. 30 following the event.

Wreaths Across America is carried out through coordinated wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery and over 1,100 locations in all 50 states, including the Bath National Cemetery.

The local mission sponsored by the Corning-Baron Steuben National Society DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) is to Remember, Honor, and Teach about area service men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice — their lives — to keep our country free and safe. It is an event that helps us to never forget that the freedoms we enjoy came at such a great cost.
