No COVID-19 deaths reported in Yates last week

Active cases drop from 85 to 53, 7-day positive average drops to 4%

PENN YAN – For the first time in several weeks, no Covid-related deaths were reported by Yates County Public Health in its Feb. 5 report. A significant decrease in the number of active cases to just 53 was also welcome news, as was a 33% drop in the 7-day average positive test average. That stands a just 4%, down from 6.1% the previous week. The 14-day average also dropped more than two points to 5.1%. The number of those hospitalized also fell, from nine to two patients.

Last Friday's report showed 49 new cases had been reported since Jan. 29. That is down from over 150 reported just three weeks earlier. The number in quarantine and isolation also fell from 315 to 231.

The total number of cases since the beginning of the pandemic stood at 1,050.
