PENN YAN – Penn Yan Academy has announced its 2021 Boys' & Girls' State Delegates. Thirteen junior boys from Penn Yan Academy have been selected by the Johnson-Costello Post #355 American Legion upon the recommendation of Penn Yan Academy to attend American Legion Boys’ State, to be held virtually this summer from June 27 to July 2.

The week-long program immerses high school youth in citizenship and leadership development. They learn the practical aspects of government as it exists in New York State, and come to recognize that the individual is integral to the character and success of government.

The junior class leaders who participate in Boys State create a mock government for cities, counties, and New York state, culminating in the election of a Governor of Boys State. Boys learn about political party organization, the creation of platforms, and campaigning for office.
