Work with a particular medium then use what you’ve learned to imagine and express yourself in a project related to the day’s theme. Finally, take advantage of all the supplies on hand to create whatever you’d like. You’ll end the workshop with three unique pieces of art! Recommended for ages 8-16. Cost: $10 per student. Three Step Still Life / Intro to Oil Painting

Description: Join Daniel Roemmelt for a three-day introduction class exploring oil paint techniques. Working with a split-primary palette of six colors and white, you’ll learn Daniel’s three-step process for creating alla prima paintings. Painting will be from a classroom still life. You’ll see the three steps: underpainting, color mixing, and brushwork used to create beautiful and dramatic still life paintings. The emphasis is also going to be on composition, correct values, color temperature and edges. There will be daily short demos and plenty of individual attention throughout the three-day workshop. Participants will be encouraged to interpret rather than replicate, using vibrant brush marks, color, imagination and creativity. We’ll have fun and be inspired. Instruction will be in oils; all materials will be provided. Beginner emphasis, but all levels welcome, ages 15 and above. Cost: $90 members, $102 not-yet-members. Start writing now, and stay tuned for future announcements!
