PYTCo. awarded $7,500 for revitalization of Sampson Theatre

The Penn Yan Theatre Company has received a $7,500 grant from the Keuka Area Fund administered by the Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning and the Finger Lakes Inc.

PENN YAN – The Penn Yan Theatre Company (PYTCo.) is a grant recipient of the Keuka Area Fund administered by the Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning and the Finger Lakes Inc. PYTCo. was recently awarded $7,500 of grant funding to support the revitalization of the Sampson Theatre.

“PYTCo. is pleased and grateful to receive the Keuka Area Fund grant and put it towards the revitalization of the Sampson Theatre,” said PYTCo. President Dusty Baker. “The Sampson Theatre will be the beating heart of Penn Yan and Yates County, and with this grant we are one step closer to providing a cultural hub and ensuring we have access to community-driven arts for generations. We look forward to continuing our fundraising momentum we are currently experiencing,”

The Keuka Area Fund, administered by the Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning and the Finger Lakes, provides grants to registered 501(c)(3) organizations that serve residents of the communities surrounding Keuka Lake.

The Community Foundation builds community and inspires philanthropy. It supports creative, effective, and innovative programs in the areas of human services, arts and culture, education and youth, health, the environment, and civic affairs.

PYTCo.’s mission is to enhance the quality of life in its community by providing theater experiences and education to promote participation, appreciation, and understanding of the arts.

The Keuka Area Fund grant will support PYTCo.’s mission by providing additional funds towards revitalizing the Sampson Theatre – a project that will provide an economic boon to local businesses, workforce development and tourism. Historic Marker to be unveiled

The Penn Yan Theatre Company was recently awarded a grant from the William C. Pomeroy Foundation to purchase and install a historic marker at the Sampson Theatre on East Elm St. in Penn Yan. 

This historic marker is to be unveiled at noon Nov. 6 at the Sampson Theatre on East Elm St., Penn Yan.

"We are happy to announce we are nearly ready to install and unveil our marker," say the PYTCo. Board of Directors, "and would like to invite you to the unveiling of this historic marker Saturday, Nov. 6 at noon.  Members of the PYTCo. Board will be in attendance for the unveiling and would love to give you a short tour around the theatre and enjoy some light refreshments following the unveiling.
