Yates County is ranked in the forty-third percentile for health outcomes in New York’s 62 counties. The primary factor hindering better outcomes is access to care.

To help its members quickly connect to the care they need, MVP Health Care [https://www.mvphealthcare.com] and Galileo [https://galileo.io] recently announced a groundbreaking partnership to offer Yates County members access to virtual comprehensive care including primary care, chronic disease management, and multi-specialty health care. Any MVP member can now connect with a primary care physician (PCP) at any time, day, or night, within minutes and without making an appointment using Galileo’s app — shrinking wait times from months to minutes.

Also, for the first time in New York, MVP’s members with Medicaid insurance will have on-demand access to primary and specialty care that focuses on their individual needs. This first-of-its-kind offering for Medicaid enrollees gives digital health care access to a population that was previously regulated by the Department of Health to see a PCP in-person. In fact, over the last 18 months, nearly 40% of MVP’s Medicaid members have not seen a PCP, often due to competing demands on time and resources, transportation challenges, and language barriers, all of which exacerbate health care inequities for this population.

This partnership helps to promote equal access to care throughout Yates County and New York. Now, Yates County community members have improved access to care in a safe, virtual environment 24/7 and are better supported through their health care journey.
