An autopsy has determined that the pilot killed in a small plane crash Sunday while practicing takeoffs and landings at the Penn Yan-Yates County Airport did not have a medical issue prior to the accident, according to Yates County Sheriff Ron Spike.

Steven P. Seely, 55, of Stanley, was killed in the crash. An autopsy performed at Soldiers and Sailors Hospital in Penn Yan showed the cause of death was blunt force trauma. The National Transportation Safety Board is examining the plane, a 1966 Cessna, and continuing the investigation, Spike said.

Seely was a member of the Penn Yan Flying Club and had a student pilot license.
