Gun discharges, no injuries

Robert W. Corbitt, 25, of 120 Eagle Lane Aprtment #33 was charged with reckless endangerment second degree on Jan. 31 after a gun accidentally discharged. 

Penn Yan Village Police were called shortly before 5 p.m. to the Eagle Lane Apartments for the report of gun shots fired. Police learned a bullet had struck apartment #20, the Theresa Pruden residence. The bullet travelled through the wall, across the apartment and embedded in the north wall of the kitchen area.  An investigation revealed that Corbitt had accidently discharged a .30 caliber rifle in his apartment and the bullet had traveled through his outside wall, across the parking lot and into the Pruden residence. 

Corbitt was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of reckless endangerment. He was processed and released to appear in Penn Yan Village Court on Feb. 11.
