Penn Yan woman allegedly disclosed Grand Jury testimony

PENN YAN — A Penn Yan woman was arrested Monday after she allegedly disclosed information she heard while listening to testimony when she was sitting as a Grand Juror between October and December 2007.

Penn Yan Village Police Chief Gene Mitchell reports Kimberly A. Mahan, 25, of 352 East Elm St., Penn Yan was charged with giving a false sworn statement to police in December, 2007 when the department was investigating complaints that Mahan disclosed confidential Grand Jury information to a third party.

She was arrested on Feb. 11 on a Superior Court warrant, and charged with Unlawful disclosure of Grand Jury information, a class  E felony, along with a Class A misdemeanor felony charge of making a false sworn statement.

Mahan was arraigned before Judge Patrick Falvey and committed to Yates County Jail on $1,000 cash/$2,000 bond bail. She will re-appear on Feb. 19 in County Court.
