BENTON — Emergency personnel were called on Feb. 19 shortly after 4 p.m. to a one car motor vehicle accident on State Route 14A just north of Baldwin Road in the Town of Benton, where two Newark men were injured.

A vehicle driven by Michael A. Bebernitz of 122 Trout Run, Newark struck a tree.  Bebernitz and a passenger, Gary M. Bradish of 732 N. Main, Newark, both had to be extricated from the vehicle.

Bebernitz was airlifted from the scene by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester for treatment of possible head injuries.  Bradish also sustained possible head injures and was transported to Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital in Penn Yan and later transfered to Strong.  Bradish was listed in “guarded” condition on Thursday, Feb. 21.  No information was available on Bebernitz.  At the scene, Bebernitz told deputies he wasn’t feeling well and passed out.  Bradish confirmed the driver passed out.  No tickets were issued.
