Penn Yan Police report for May 7, 2008

Derek J. Archer, 29, of 3 Wadell Ave., Penn Yan, was arrested April 24 for DWI, having an unregistered vehicle and failure to keep right.  Officers stopped Archer after observing his vehicle cross over the center line into the opposite direction of traffic. A check revealed his vehicle was unregistered. Archer failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the Yates County Public Safety building where his BAC was found to be above .08 percent.  Archer was released to a third party on tickets and is scheduled to appear in village court.

Joseph E. Trautman, 38, of 29 Champlin Ave., Penn Yan was arrested on April 25 for aggravated unlicensed operation third degree and driving with a suspended registration.  He will appear in Penn Yan Village Court.

John Dusenberry, 39, of Penn Yan was arrested on May 1 and charged with issuing a bad check.  He was given a ticket to appear in village court.

Heidi L.?Witt, 28, of 108 Benham St. Apt. 2, Penn Yan, was arrested on May 4 for criminal possession of a forged instrument third degree and identity theft.  Witt defrauded a third party by altering a check that had the amount changed from $600 to $800.  She was charged with identity theft after she opened a cable, internet and phone account using another person’s name and social security number. She was released on appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear in Penn Yan Village Court.

Andrew Wood, 18, of 649 Route 54, Penn Yan, was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation third degree and operating a motor vehicle on a suspended registration. Wood was stopped by Penn Yan Police for an inspection violation.  A computer check revealed his vehicle registration and license were both suspended.  Wood was arraigned and released to answer charges in village court.
