Two men charged with selling drugs in Penn Yan

Two men were arrested on Friday May 2 around 6 p.m. after they were observed selling cocaine in a parking lot in the village of Penn Yan.

Josue Martinez, 27, of Exchange St., Geneva and Luis E. Rivera, 27, of 108 Vienna Road, Lot 61, Newark, were both charged by the Yates County Sheriff’s Office following an investigation into the sale of controlled substances. Yates County Investigator Lt. Todd Sotir reports that an investigation revealed that Martinez and Rivera were selling cocaine in Penn Yan. 

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on State Route 14A in the Town of Benton and apprehended the pair.

Deputies seized almost $500 in cash as well as a 1998 Toyota Tercel used in the commission of the crime.  Martinez and Rivera were both arraigned in Village of Penn Yan Court and taken to Yates County Jail in lieu of $45,000 bail or $90,000 bond. Several Yates County deputies and investigators in addition to the Penn Yan Police Department were involved in the investigation and subsequent arrest.
