Yates County Sheriff's Department report for May 7, 2008

Zachary Trent House, 29, of 53 Hampden Road, Rochester, was charged with perjury first degree , a class D felony on April 29.  With the assistance of the Rochester Police Department, Yates County Sheriff’s deputies arrested House on Tuesday evening, April 29, on a Yates County Superior Court warrant. It is alleged that House offered false testimony during a grand jury hearing in Yates County. He was arraigned in Yates County Superior Court and committed on $1,000 cash or $2,000 bond.

Webber L. Adams, 52, of 7950 Hooper Road, Baton Rouge, La., was charged on May 1, with DWI, leaving the scene of a property damage MVA and failure to use lane.  The arrest followed the investigation into a motor vehicle accident which occurred on State Route 245 and Loomis Road. Adams was found hiding in the brush up the road from the accident scene. He was transported to S&S Memorial Hospital.  He was taken to the Yates County Jail for processing, where he refused a breath test.  Adams was placed in Yates County Jail on $750 cash or $1500 bond, bail.

Kyle P. Hartman, 22, of 1076 Gleason Circle East, Rochester and Robert W. Mertz II, 21, of 1157 Ridge Crest Drive, Victor were both charged May 2 with unlawful possession of marijuana.  The arrest followed a traffic stop on State Route 21 in the Town of Italy.  Mertz was the driver of the vehicle and had in his possession a small pipe containing marijuana residue. Hartman was a passenger and had in his possession a small plastic bag that contained marijuana. Both were issued appearance tickets to answer charges in Town of Italy Court.

Johnna M. Johncox, 21, of 2314 Clark Road, Penn Yan was arrested May 3 for harassment second degree, a violation. The charges stem from an investigation in April when Johncox got into a physical altercation with an 18-year-old Penn Yan woman.  The fight allegedly started when Johncox became involved in a Penn Yan woman’s argument with another person over a mutual friend. The Penn Yan woman was bruised and battered. The injuries did not require immediate medical treatment. Johncox will appear in Town of Benton Court.

Aretino Bennett, 21, of 644 Waterloo-Geneva Road, Waterloo was charged May 4 with sexual misconduct. The complaint alleges that when Bennett was 20-years-old during the spring of 2007, he engaged in sexual activity with a Yates County resident who was 14-years-old at that time. Bennett was issued a ticket to appear in Town of Jerusalem Court.

Jeramiah P. Mendez, 19, of 4615 State Route 245, Naples was charged with petit larceny on May 5. He is alleged to have stolen a laptop computer from a household member and sold it. Mendez was given an appearance ticket.
