Nathaniel T. Arden, 24, 0f 4042 Charter Oak Way, Columbus, Ohio, was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation (third degree) and speeding on Aug. 7.   Arden was stopped on the traffic violation on State Route 54A in the Town of Jerusalem.  A background check revealed his license had been suspended.  He will answer charges in Jerusalem Town Court. Deputy Charles Emerson was the arresting officer.

Sherwood D. Gayhart, Jr., 31, of 195 East Swamp Road, Penn Yan, was charged on Aug. 7 with harassment (second degree) and endangering the welfare of a child.  He is charged with striking a Town of Potter resident and throwing a toaster at another Town of Potter resident. Sherwood was arraigned in Town of Jerusalem Court and remanded to the custody of the Yates County Jail in lieu of $3,000 cash/$6,000 bond. Deputies Brad Cole and Derek Blumbergs were assisted by Domestic Violence of the Finger Lakes in the investigation.

Alan R. Dinehart, 30, of Comstock Road, Penn Yan, was arrested on Aug. 9 for DWI and aggravated unlicensed operation (third degree). Dinehart was arrested as a result of an investigation into a property damage MVA on Flat Street around 2:13 a.m. by Deputies Jeff Rider, Ken Kamholtz and Charles Emerson and Officer James Mullins Jr. of the Penn Yan Police Department. Dinehart was arraigned in the Town of Benton Court and remanded to the Yates County Jail to answer charges at a later date.

David L. Cheplowitz, 20, of 45 Chadwick Drive, Rochester and Jason A. Visko, 20, of 59 Monroe Parkway, Rochester, were both charged with possession of alcohol with the intent to consume under the age of 21 on Aug. 9 shortly after midnight.  Deputies Jeff Rider and Ken Kamholtz were investigating the report of a group of suspicious people in the Branchport area and found Cheplowitz and Visko walking on State Route 54A, just south of Branchport. Both were found to have consumed alcohol.  They were given appearance tickets to answer charges in the Town of Jerusalem Court.
