Penn Yan Police report for August 13, 2008

Thomas Bench, 33, of 15 Mark Circle, Naples, was arrested on the charge of issuing a bad check. Bench was arrested at his residence in Naples by Ontario County Deputies on an arrest warrant out of the Village of Penn Yan. He was arraigned in the village and released. Bench is accused of writing a check to a village business without sufficient funds in his account.

Ronald J. Burd, Jr., 38, of 124 Main St., Penn Yan, was arrested on Aug. 7 for falsely reporting an incident (a class B misdemeanor).  Burd was witnessed pulling a fire alarm at Main and Water Streets, knowing there was no emergency.

Kristine J. Griffin, 48, of 422 Liberty St., Penn Yan, was arrested on Aug. 8 at 12:44 a.m. for DWI and insufficient notice while using turn signal. Griffin was seen traveling east on Wagener Street in the village and failed to use her turn signal in time when turning on to Liberty Street. She was stopped and found to be intoxicated as the result of field sobriety tests. Griffin was unable/unwilling to give a breath sample, so the test was marked as a refusal.  Griffin will appear in Penn Yan Village Court on Aug. 11.

Dennis S. Fico, Jr., 20, of 26 Grouse Pt., Webster was arrested on Aug. 9 for speeding and aggravated unlicensed operation (third degree). The arrest by village police resulted from a traffic stop on Lake Street. A check of the drivers license showed Fico had two suspensions for failure to answer summons in the Town of Farmington, Ontario County.  He appeared in Penn Yan Village Court on Aug. 11.

Jeffery A. McClain, Jr., 20, of 245 E. Main St., Penn Yan, was arrested for harassment (second degree), a violation. Village police answered a complaint from a village woman who said McClain choked her by the throat, placed her in a head lock and then pushed her head into a wall. He was to answer charges on Aug. 11.
