What happens to guns that are seized by police?

The guns shown at right have been seized by the Penn Yan Police Department as illegal or have been declared nuisance weapons, according to Police Chief Gene Mitchell. Guns that have been siezed after being involved in the commission of a crime are destroyed, as are weapons turned in by the public for disposal.
