Accident victim flown to Strong

Two residents of Montrose, Pa.  were involved in an accident on the Norris Road in the Town of Milo on Dec. 3. Yates County Sheriff Sgt. Patrick Manahan and New York State Police were called to investigate an accident involving a vehicle which had left the roadway and was stuck on the railroad tracks. 

Loren Smith, 19, was operating her vehicle northbound on Norris Road when she failed to negotiate a 90 degree curve and exited the roadway. 

Her vehicle slammed onto the railroad tracks and became impaled. A passenger, Kassandra M. Whitney, 16 suffered a head injury. 

Whitney was treated at the scene by Penn Yan Ambulance, Medic 55 and Himrod Fire Dept. personnel and was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital by Mercy Flight for treatment.
