A two car motor vehicle accident at 5 p.m. Dec. 11 on State Route 54A at Assembly Avenue resulted in injuries to both drivers.

Investigation revealed that Beck Demay, 52, of 2938 Coates Road, Penn Yan failed to yield right-of-way to a vehicle driven by Adam Hullings, 23, of 361 Lake St., Penn Yan.

Hullings’ vehicle struck the driver’s side of Demay’s car, causing it to spin across 54A and come to rest in the grass. The Hullings vehicle continued forward, spinning 90 degrees counter-clockwise, coming to rest in the intersection.

Branchport/Keuka Park Fire Department had to cut the door off to extricate Demay.

Both drivers were taken to Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital by Penn Yan Volunteer Ambulance.  Hullings sustained head and face injuries.  Demay was treated for a neck injury.

Both vehicles were demolished and towed from the scene. The deployment of air bags is credited with minimizing injuries, according to Yates County Sheriff Deputy Ken Kamholtz. Hullings was ticketed for operating an uninspected vehicle.  Demay was ticketed for failure to yield right-of-way.  Both will answer charges in Jerusalem Town Court.  Branchport/Keuka Park First Responders and Medic 55 provided care at the scene.
