Penn Yan Police report for December 24, 2008

Timothy L. Perry, 39 of 227 Main St., Penn Yan, was charged by a Superior Court Warrant of Arrest for rape (first degree), a Class B Felony; rape (third degree), a class E Felony; sexual abuse (first degree), a Class D Felony, four counts; attempted forcible touching and attempted assault (third degree), a Class B misdemeanor.  The arrest follows an investigation by the Penn Yan Police Department and the Yates County District Attorney’s office. Perry allegedly subjected two different female victims to sexual contact without their permission in Penn Yan in 2007 and the spring of 2008. Perry was arraigned and committed on $50,000 cash bail in Yates County Court.  He was being held at the time of the arrest on an unrelated grand larceny charge.  Perry is listed on the New York State Sex Offender Registry for conviction of sexual abuse in 2000.

Paul J. Pringle, 29, of 211 Black Walnut Drive, Rochester, was arrested on Dec. 8 after leaving a packet containing a controlled substance in the back of a Penn Yan Police cruiser after he was arrested for aggravated unlicensed operation charge on Dec. 6. Pringle was arraigned in village court and released on his own recognizance to answer charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance (seventh degree), a class A misdemeanor.

Benjamin D. Cornish, 23 of 268 Palomino Lane, Spring Lake, N.C. was arrested on Dec. 17 for aggravated unlicensed operation (third degree).  Penn Yan Police stopped Cornish for having a tail light out on his vehicle. A check showed he had his New York State driving privileges suspended for failure to pay a fine on Oct. 6, 2005 in the Town of Cohocton. Cornish was given a ticket to appear in village court on Dec. 22.
