Two Penn Yan teens were involved in a one-car accident on State Route 54 near Roy Road in the Town of Torrey on Dec. 17 at 6:30 p.m.  Damon  Walker, 17, of State Route 14A was driving eastbound when he stated he swerved to miss a little animal.  His vehicle, a 1990 Buick convertible, exited the south shoulder of the road, entering a ditch and struck a telephone pole, which was shorn in half.  The vehicle began spinning and rolled over several times. An electric fence enclosing an occupied cow pasture was also damaged. Walker suffered abrasions to his ankle.  He was ticketed by Deputy Ken Kamholtz for operating out of license restrictions, having an uninsured, uninspected and unregistered motor vehicle.

A passenger, Travis Nielsen, 16, of State Route 14A, received injuries to his head and hands. Nielsen was transported to Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital by Penn Yan Ambulance.

Dresden Fire Department and First Responders also responded. The vehicle was demolished. Walker will answer charges in Torrey Town Court in January.
