Tracy L. Cameron, 36, of 42 Union St., Apt. No. 3, Dundee, was arrested on Dec. 23 for welfare fraud (fifth degree), a Class A misdemeanor. The Yates County Sheriff’s Office received a tip from a concerned citizen regarding a possible welfare fraud. Investigation revealed unreported income by a household member resulting in overpayment of benefits. Cameron was issued an appearance ticket to Penn Yan Village Court to answer the charges. The Yates County Sheriff’s Department works cooperatively with the Yates County Department of Social Services to ensure compliance with guidelines for public assistance programs.  Criminal activity can be reported by contacting the Yates County Sheriff’s Office Crime Tip Hotline at 315-536-5558.

Raymond Joseph Card, 42, of 31 Seneca St., Apt. No. 1, Dundee, was arrested as a fugitive from justice on Dec. 22.  The arrest was based on information received from the Tucker County Sheriff’s Department in West Virginia. Authorities in West Virginia allege Card has failed to pay child support in excess of $8,000, making the charges a felony punishable by fine or imprisonment (not less than one year nor more than three years or both).  Card was arraigned before the acting Village of Dundee Magistrate, Justice Halbritter, and remanded to the custody of the Yates County Sheriff without bail pending extradition proceedings before a Yates County Superior Court Judge, according to Sgt. John Warner and Deputy Brad Cole.

Ricky D. Gauthereaux, 42, of 543 Macedon Center Road Lot 66, Macedon, was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation (third degree) and speeding on Dec. 24. Gauthereaux was stopped by Deputy Brad Cole on State Route 14 in the Town of Torrey for speeding. Upon investigation, it was determined that he was driving with a suspended license. He was arraigned in Town of Starkey Court and bail was set at $200.  He will answer charges in Town of Torrey Court.

Karlee A. Main, 33, of 5341 Highlands Drive, Branchport, was charged on Dec. 24 with aggravated unlicensed operation (third degree, a misdemeanor) and speeding.  Deputy Derek Blumbergs stopped Main for speeding on State Route 54A, which resulted in the AUO charge.  She was arraigned in Town of Jerusalem Court and is scheduled to answer charges in January.

Samantha J. Butler, 19, of 5036 McNut Run Road, Campbell, Rachel E. Thompson, 18, of 548 Liberty St., Penn Yan, and Brandon Thompson, 16, of 548 Liberty St., Penn Yan, were traveling North on State Route 54 Dec. 28 when the driver, Butler, swerved to avoid an animal in the road and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle exited the east side of the road, striking the curb and a tree. Butler and Thompson had complaints of pain and were transported to Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital for treatment.
