Brian J. Blackman, 45, of 3452 State Route 54A, Branchport, was charged on June 29 with second degree harassment. He was arrested by Yates County deputies for subjecting another male to unwanted physical contact by pushing and punching him. Blackman was arraigned in Jerusalem Town Court and released on his own recognizance with an order of protection for the victim. He will answer charges at a later date.

Daniel L. Smith, 20, of 3692  County Route 2, Hector, was arrested on June 30  on a warrant issued after he wrote a bad check to the Town of Potter for $205.  Smith was arraigned and posted restitution. He will appear at a later date to answer the charges.

An eligible youthful offender, 16, was arrested July 2 on a warrant for unlawfully dealing with a child. An investigation revealed that he had provided alcohol to a person under the age of 21.  He was arraigned in Jerusalem Town Court and released to his mother’s custody to appear in Penn Yan Village Court for further proceedings.

Arthur Griffin, 45, of 12 N. Main St., Cohocton, was arrested on July 3, shortly before midnight, for DWI and having an uninspected vehicle.  During a roadblock conducted by deputies on State Route 21 in Woodville, Griffin was stopped and an odor of alcohol was detected on his breath. Griffin was given a field sobriety test and taken into custody. He was transported to the Yates County Public Safety Building, where he was given a chemical test.  Griffin was arraigned in Jerusalem Town Court and remanded to Yates County Jail in lieu of $1000 bail/ $2000 bond. He will answer charges in Italy Town Court.

Christopher J. Simmons, 23, of 1716 Toomey Road, Bellona was charged with DWI, speeding and failure to comply on July 3 following a pursuit in the Town of Benton that ended up in Ontario County on Kashong Switch Road. His vehicle went into the ditch and he fled on foot and was located in a field off Alexander Road. Simmons was placed through a series of field sobriety tests, arrested and transported to the Yates County Public Safety Building for a breath test.  He was arraigned in Benton Town Court and sent to jail on $2,500 cash/$5,000 bond Sgt. Pat Manahan and Deputies Chad Betts and Charles Emerson responded and were assisted by Ontario County Sheriff’s deputies,.

Kimberly A. Gerbert, 41, of 3122 Vrooman Road, Penn Yan, was charged with DWI and leaving the scene of a property damage accident on Pre-Emption Road in the Town of Benton. Investigation found that Gerbert was responsible for property damage and was stopped in in the Village of Penn Yan. She was placed through field sobriety tests and transported to the Yates County Public Safety Building for a chemical test. She was released on tickets and will answer charges  in Benton Town Court. Deputies Charles Emerson and Chad Betts were assisted by Penn Yan Police.

Audrey Wackerman, 21, of 4255 Sherman Ave., Williamson, was arrested for DWI on July 4 at 1:32 a.m. on State Route 54A in Branchport. She was stopped for a traffic violation and an odor of alcohol was detected. Wackerman was placed through field sobriety tests and transported to the public safety building for a chemical test. She is scheduled to answer charges in Jerusalem Town Court.

Dennis S. Giunta, 56, of 55 Brush Creek Drive, Rochester, was charged  July 5 with AUO (third degree) and speeding. He was stopped on State Route 14 in the Town of Benton for speeding. A check of his driver’s license revealed his license was suspended. Giunta was arraigned in Benton Town Court and released to answer charges at a later date.
