Penn Yan woman stole from elderly resident

Danielle L. Coon, 26, of 243 Lake Street, Penn Yan, was charged with grand larceny (third degree), a Class D Felony and 26 counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument (second degree, also a Class D Felony on Oct. 8. 

Penn Yan Police received a complaint that Coon has been stealing money from an elderly Penn Yan resident over the last three years.  Coon had been assisting the victim as a Community and Residential Support Specialist with the Catholic Charities organization. 

The investigation showed that during this period, there was approximately $8,400 missing.  It was determined that Coon used an ATM card linked to the victim's account to withdraw cash without having authorization to do so. She was committed to the Yates County Jail to reappear in court on Oct. 19.
