Penn Yan Village Police for October 21, 2009

Steven P. Carnrite, 25, of 112 Stark Ave., Penn Yan, was charged on Oct. 15 with unlawfully dealing with a child. He was arrested after he gave beer to two individuals under the age of 21. He was scheduled to appear in village court on Oct. 19.

Jason A. Beverly, 26, of 2 Main St., Penn Yan, was charged on Oct. 17 with forcible touching. He is accused of intentionally touching the intimate areas of a 19-year-old female without her permission. Penn Yan Police and New York State Parole arrested Beverly on a parole violation for the incident. He is being held in the Yates County Jail on a parole detainer and will be arraigned in village court.

Matthew M. Chambers, 34, of 4294 Vine Rd., was arrested Oct. 18 for criminal mischief, attempted assault and harassment. Investigation into an incident that happened in the early hours of Saturday, Oct. 17 led to the arrest. Chambers was scheduled to appear in village court Oct. 19.

Brian A. Gillespie, 23, of 109 Ogden St., Apt. B, Penn Yan, was charged Oct. 18 with aggravated unlicensed operation, leaving the scene of a property damage accident and failure to yield right of way at the intersection of Chestnut Street and Lawrence Street. He struck another vehicle and then fled the scene.  Officers located Gillespie and his vehicle at his residence a short time later.  A check of his license revealed it was suspended. No one was injured.  Gillespie, who was on parole, was placed in the Yates County Jail on a New York State Parole detainer. He will appear in Penn Yan Village Court.
