Yates County Sheriff's Report for October 21, 2009

Jonathan M. Nash, 20, of 5312 Lakemont-Himrod Road, Dundee was arrested Oct. 14 on a bench warrant issued by the Town of Starkey for failure to appear to court.  Nash was arraigned in Starkey Court, where he will return to answer charges.  Nash was returned to Schuyler County Jail pending prosecution in that jurisdiction.

Edward Galvin III, 22, of 9 Main St., Penn Yan, was arrested Oct. 14 on a bench warrant issued by the Town of Starkey. He was arraigned in Starkey Court and remitted to the Yates County Jail on violation of probation.

Amanda L. Herzig, 18, of 1431 State Route 245, Middlesex, was arrested Oct. 15 on a warrant from Middlesex Court for petit larceny. Herzig allegedly had been invited to a Town of Middlesex resident’s home and then stole various items of clothing from the residence. She was arraigned in Middlesex Court and placed in Yates County Jail on bail.

Joshua R. Farrow, 24, of 62 Harpending Ave., Dundee, was arrested on Oct. 15 for endangering the welfare of a child. Deputies received a report from Yates County Department of Social Services staff about an injured child.  Following a joint investigation with a child protective worker, it was determined that Farrow committed acts in Dundee on Oct. 14. that possibly endangered the welfare of a child and caused injury. He will appear in Dundee Court.

Joshua P. Owen, 19, of 1400 Lovejoy Road, Penn Yan was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana Oct. 16. Owen was parked on Lown Road in the Town of Benton. The deputy noted a large plastic bong was observed between the subject’s legs. A small amount of marijuana was located on the subject and another pipe was located in the vehicle.  Owen was issued an appearance ticket to answer charges in Benton Court.

Aaron M. Henderson, 19, of 985 Roach Road, Middlesex, was arrested on Oct. 16 for burglary (second degree) and petit larceny. Henderson entered a Town of Middlesex residence and stole money. He also is accused of stealing items from outside the residence. He will appear in Middlesex Court.

Terry R. Rooks, Jr., 29, of 2600 County House Woods Road, Keuka Park, was charged with felony driving while intoxicated (DWI) and failure to stop for a stop sign on Oct. 17 at 2:20 a.m. Deputies stopped Rooks on County House Road for a traffic infraction. An odor of alcohol was detected and he was placed through field sobriety tests and transported to Yates County Public Safety building for a chemical test. Rooks was arraigned in Jerusalem Court and held on bail at the YCJ. Rooks has a prior DWI conviction as of March 2005.
