Middlesex - Quick work by the Middlesex Fire Department with the assistance of Rushville, Potter and Crystal Beach departments, saved a house in Middlesex on Wednesday afternoon around 1:30 p.m.

The owner of the two story wood frame house at 1139 Lincoln Ave., Middlesex, Kathy Hacker, was not home at the time, but her daughter and a two-year-old grandson were in the house.  The daughter heard a popping sound upstairs and when she went to investigate discovered smoke and fire.  She immediately left the house with her son and called 9111.

Hacker said the main section of the house had been rebuilt in 1993.

The cause and extent of damage is not known at this time.  There were no injuries.
