Winter storm warning for 8 to 12 inches of snow in wide area Friday

The winter storm watch has been upgraded to a winter storm warning from 4 a.m to 5 p.m. Friday.
The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a winter storm warning for heavy snow in the Finger Lakes, Syracuse area, Western Mohawk Valley and Southern Tug Hill plateau.
Heavy wet snow could accumulate to 8 to 12 inches beginning late tonight through Friday. Temperatures will be in the lower 30s, falling into the upper 20s in the afternoon.
Motorists can expect difficult travel due to snow-covered roads. Damage to power lines with power outages are possible.
