Winter storm watch for Friday

A winter storm watch in effect from Friday morning through Friday afternoon. Snow could reach 6 to 9 inches, according to an advisory from the Yates County Sheriff's Department.

The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a winter

storm watch for Finger Lakes, Syracuse area, Western Mohawk Valley

and Southern Tug Hill plateau.

A winter storm watch is in effect because heavy snow is a possibility, but not a certainty. At this time there is the potential for snow accumulations of 7 inches or more. Travel conditions could become hazardous,so it is important to monitor the latest forecasts and statements if you are planning to travel

in the watch area.
