Winter Storm Warning calls for 10 to 14 inches of snow
A winter storm warning is in effect until 7 a.m. Monday.
The Yates County Sheriff's Department advises that the National Weather Service has issued this warning that accumulations of between 10 and 14 inches is possible by Monday morning.
The warning covers the Finger Lakes, Mohawk Valley, Soutern Tug Hill, Central Southern Tier and North Susquehanna region.
A brief period of sleet and freezing rain will move from north to south through noon. Mixed precipitation will change over to all snow by 1 p.m.
Temperatures will fall into the 20s this afternoon.
A winter storm warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet and ice are expected or occurring. Strong winds are also possible. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible.
