Elmira man arrested for check fraud in Penn Yan
Aubrey J. Plummer, 42, of 410 Williams St., Elmira, was arrested March 24 by Penn Yan Police on a warrant issued by Penn Yan Village Court after complaints from several Penn Yan businesses alleging that he had purchased merchandise with bad checks. Investigation revealed that Plummer had written six checks totaling over $1500 on a closed account to four local merchants: Morgan's Grocery, Longs' Cards and Books, Pinckney Hardware, and SCT Computers.
Plummer was arraigned in Penn Yan Court on charges of first degree scheme to defraud, a class E felony, and remanded to the Yates County Jail without bail. Plummer will face further charges for passing bad checks in Watkins Glen and Waverly.
