A Penn Yan woman escaped serious injuries in an accident involving a tractor trailer truck Friday afternoon on State Route 14A south of Second Milo.

Yates County Sheriff Deputy Sgt. Derek Blumbergs reports that Denise E. Sugg, 45, of Penn Yan, was driving south around 1:45 p.m. when she abruptly turned left without signaling, in an attempt to enter a private driveway. A southbound truck, driven by Michael W. Morris II of Wilson, N.C. had already begun to pass Sugg's vehicle on the left before she initiated the turn.

Her vehicle turned into the trailer as Morris completed his pass, resulting in heavy damage to both vehicles. Sugg was extricated from her vehicle and taken to Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor bruises and lacerations. She was charged with failure to keep right. Morris was not injured.
