The Himrod Conservation Club was burglarized in the early morning of Tuesday, April 19. The Yates County Sheriff's Dept has arrested Dylan R. Snyder, 16 of 765 South St., Himrod, and a second unnamed 15-year old local youth.

According to Senior Investigator Michael Christensen, Snyder and his accomplice allegedly broke into the club, and attempted unsuccessfully to smash their way into the office safe, doing extensive damage in the process. They did make off with three new rifles recently purchased by the club valued at $675.

Speaking to investigators at the scene, an observant resident of Milo reported some suspicious activity he had witnessed in Himrod that morning. Subsequent investigation led to Snyder's identification and arrest, and the recovery of the stolen rifles.

The 15-year old was referred to the Juvenile Aid Division, released to his parents, and will appear later in Yates County Family Court.

Snyder was charged with third degree burglary and fourth degree grand larceny. He was arraigned in Milo Court and committed to the Yates County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond.

Further investigation has revealed that additional charges concerning other burglaries, attempted burglaries and larcenies in the area are pending with more inquiries and grand jury action.
