Several fire departments responded to a structure fire at 94 South Glenora Road Monday night.

Firefighters from several departments overcame the challenges of steep terrain and narrow roads leading to Glenora Point to bring a house fire under control at 94 South Glenora Road in Starkey Monday night.

When Dundee Fire Chief Ray Miller arrived on the scene about 9:03 p.m., he reported a working structure fire and called for mutual aid from Himrod, Watkins Glen, Tyrone, Montour Falls, Wayne, Penn Yan and Penn Yan Fast Team. The Yates County Office of Emergency Management and Medic 55 also responded to the scene.

"Despite the challenges of a narrow roadway and limited access, the fire personnel were able to quickly bring the fire under control," reports Yates County Sheriff Investigator Lt. Todd Sotir.

No one was home at the property owned by Arthur and Alice Cole of Rock Stream.

Firefighters were on the scene until about midnight.

The Yates County Fire Investigation Team is determining the cause of the fire, says Sotir.
