Several people escaped injury when a tour bus with 40 passengers struck a pick-up truck towing a boat on Route 14 near Himrod Thursday around 2 p.m.

Yates County Sheriff Deputy Brandon Jensen reports that Kevin J. Cooper, 53, of Copenhagen, N.Y. was driving his pick-up southbound on Route 14, towing a trailer and boat. With him was a passenger, Cindy Cooper, 53, also of Coppenhagen, N.Y.

As he was turning left onto Severne Road, a bus driven by Chen De Yue, 27, of Southgate, Mich., attempted to pass the pick-up truck on the left. The bus struck the driver's side rear of the pick-up truck, damaging the truck, trailer and boat. The bus sustained some front end damage, but was able to be driven away.

Neither driver, nor any passengers sustained injuries, according to Jensen. Yue was ticketed for passing in a no passing zone.

Yates County Sheriff's Office officials were assisted at the scene by the Ontario County Commercial Vehicle inspector.
