A Bellona man and woman are now facing drug sale and possession charges after police allege one was smoking crack in the parking lot of a local gas station.

On Friday, Jan. 31, at about 10:15 p.m., Canandaigua City Police charged James M. Pierce, 54, of 142 Preemption Road, Bellona, with third degree criminal sale of a controlled substance. Along with Pierce, they charged Jean R. Kelly, 48, of the same address, with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Officers said they saw Kelly smoking crack from a pipe while both were in a parked vehicle in the parking lot of the Sunoco gas station at 484 S. Main St. Upon investigation, police found Pierce to be in possession of several bags of crack cocaine, and had supplied Kelly with the drug.

The two were remanded to the Ontario County Jail to await arraignment.
