Naples man arrested for knife assault

Responding to a reported altercation in the town of Italy Nov. 16, Yates County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a Naples man for 1st-degree assault with a knife.

Robert Hebding, 38, of Rte. 245, was arrested in his home where he allegedly engaged in a fight with another man and used a knife to injure him. This occurred in the presence of two children.

According to YCSO Investigators, the victim, also 38, received serious hand injuries and a non-life-threatening injury to his upper torso. He was taken by Naples Ambulance to Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua and then to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester for treatment of his wounds.

Hebding was charged with 1st degree assault (class C violent felony), 4th degree criminal possession of a weapon, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. He was held at the the Yates County Jail for Centralized Arraignment Court, which remanded him back to jail in lieu of $10,000 bail of $20,000 bond.
