Police Reports for April 29

Includes reports received from Yates County Sheriff’s Department, Penn Yan Police Department, and New York State Police. It should be noted that these reports merely indicate that someone has been charged with an offense, and the use of the term “arrest” does not always mean someone was put in jail. These reports do not indicate guilt.

New York State Police urge citizens to be vigilant when strangers, specifically online, attempt to have individuals send them money. The latest scam in the Finger Lakes Region is threatening to release private information to the public that may be embarrassing. These scam artists are asking for payments in Bit Coins, and say that if you don’t pay in 24 hours private, embarrassing information will be shared with family and or friends. Anyone having matters that resemble this alert is asked to contact law enforcement. 

NICHOLAS F. SCOTT, 23, of Dundee, was ticketed by Penn Yan Police April 21 after they stopped to assist a motorist with a disabled vehicle. Scott was found to have driven with a revoked driver’s license. He was charged with 3rd degree aggravated unlicensed operation, and will answer in Penn Yan Village Court.

LINDSAY C. LONG, 32, of Penn Yan, was arrested April 23 by Penn Yan Police on a warrant for violation of probation, stemming from a 4th degree grand larceny charge. Long was picked up at a hotel in Geneva and held at the Yates County Jail to await Centralized Arraignment Court.  

TODD J. HOLTON, 44, of Chapin St. Canandaigua, was arrested April 23 by Yates County Sheriff’s Deputies after being stopped for an infraction. Showing signs of intoxication, Holton failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the Public Safety Building for a breath test. Holton was charged with felony DWI, felony 1st degree aggravated unlicensed operation, parking on a highway, open container, and driving an uninspected motor vehicle. He was held in the county jail to await arraignment. 

TODD M. EICHER, 41, of Shorewood Drive, Tyrone, was arrested April 23 by a Yates County Deputy on a bench warrant from Starkey Town Court for failure to appear. Eicher was arrested upon his release from Lakeview State Correctional Facility in Brocton, and was taken to the Yates County Jail to await arraignment. 

DATERIONE K. GULLEY, 27, of Hillcrest Dr., Dundee, was arrested April 24 by Yates County Deputies on a warrant for 1st degree criminal contempt from Dundee Village Court. Gulley was arrested upon his release from Watertown Correctional Facility and was brought to the Yates County Jail to await arraignment.

JAMES R. VANDEREEMS, 46, of Tyrone, was arrested April 25 by N.Y. State Troopers responding to a disturbance on West Main St. in Montour Falls. He was charged with 2nd degree criminal trespass and felony 3rd degree criminal mischief, and was later released with appearance tickets for Montour Falls Village Court.
