Includes reports received from Yates County Sheriff’s Department, Penn Yan Police Department, and New York State Police. It should be noted that these reports merely indicate that someone has been charged with an offense, and the use of the term “arrest” does not always mean someone was put in jail. These reports do not indicate guilt.

Gregg A. Conley, of Culver Hill Road, Penn Yan was arrested June 27 by Yates County Deputies investigating a hit and run accident that occurred June 23 at the intersection of North Ave. and Liberty St. in Penn Yan. Investigation showed Conley struck another vehicle while it was stopped at a red light, and then fled the scene without reporting the accident. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, 2nd degree aggravated unlicensed operation (AUO), making a false written statement, and broken windshield. He was released with appearance tickets for Penn Yan Village Court later.

During the course of the investigation above,Joshua R. Conley, 25, of Culver Hill Road, Penn Yan, provided a false written statement to Yates County Deputies. He was charged with making a false written statement and obstruction, and was released with appearance tickets for Jerusalem Town Court.

Adam M. Mahan, 26, of Stanley, was arrested  June 29 by Penn Yan Police after Mahan was found to be in possession of a glass pipe containing burnt marihuana while in Indian Pines Park after park hours. Mahan was charged with 2nd degree unlawful possession of marihuana, and was released with an appearance for Penn Yan Village Court.

Vesna Herbowy, 48, of Rochester, was ticketed by the Penn Yan Police after being stopped for driving a vehicle with a registration suspended for insurance lapse in early 2019. She was released to appear in village court later.

Louis J. Wisely, age 38, of Dundee, was arrested July 1 by Penn Yan Police after being stopped for driving a vehicle with an expired inspection sticker. Investigation revealed Wisely’s license was suspended. He was charged with 3rd degree aggravated unlicensed operation (AUO) and driving an uninspected vehicle, and was released to answer in village court later.

Maria A. Rodriguez, 32, of Middlesex, was arrested July 1 by N.Y. State Troopers in Dundee responding to a trespass complaint. She was charged with 2nd degree criminal trespass, arraigned and released on bail to answer later in town court.

An off-road motorcycle accident occurred July 1 at 1253 Wilkins Road, Penn Yan, whereChristian M. Singleton, 27, of Yatesville Road, Penn Yan lost control of the dirt bike and was thrown from it. Yates County Deputies, Potter Fire Dept., Penn Yan Ambulance, Medic 55, and Mercy Flight responded. Singleton was flown to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester with a head injury and lacerations to his arms and legs. 

Steven H. Godwin, 24, of Ford Road, Branchport, was arrested July 3 by Penn Yan Police following investigation of an incident in June when he allegedly forcibly touched the private parts of two women. He was charged with two counts each of forcible touching and 2nd degree harassment, and was released with appearance tickets for village court. 

A car vs. motorcycle accident occurred July 3 at the intersection of Rte. 54 and Pre-Emption Road in Benton.Mark P. Morey, 54, of Putney, Vt., was attempting to turn north on Pre-Emption when he collided with the motorcycle ofJohn E. Semans, 21, of Main St., Penn Yan, who was ejected from the motorcycle. Penn Yan Fire Dept. and Ambulance Corps responded. Semans was taken by ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester with non-life-threatening injuries. Morey was charged with moving from lane unsafely. 

Patrick J. Meland, 25, of Stark Ave., Penn Yan, was arrested  July 3 by Penn Yan Police following a traffic stop. Meland is under a court order for an alcohol ignition interlock device, but the vehicle was not so equipped. He was charged with driving without an interlock device, and was released with an appearance ticket for village court.
